One of my earliest computer-based works (and one of the few of the period that I'm not embarassed by), this tribute to the grand Union Jack was done in Autumn 1996 using Paint Shop Pro.

just a note - the Union Flag (it's the Union Jack only when flown from a ship, if you're really pedantic) isn't symmetrical - the red diagonal cross is "heavier", so at the side of the flag nearest the flagpole the red diagonals are lower than central within the white diagonals. I won't bore you with the significane of this :-) but the Union Flag really can be flown upside down!

I like the effect of the smaller design in the middle, though, caused by the wind
